PE & Sport Grant Allocation

What is Sports Premium?
Most schools with primary-aged pupils receive the PE and sport premium grant from the Government. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school Headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.

Purpose of funding
Schools will have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Accountability
Schools are held to account for how we spend the sport funding. Ofsted has strengthened its coverage of sport and PE within the Inspectors’ Handbook and supporting guidance, so that schools and inspectors know how sport and PE will be assessed in future as part of the school’s overall provision offered.

At Anderton Park we already provide a high quality Physical Education and Sport program, and our intention is that this funding will further enhance the existing provision in school.

Swimming

Children learn to swim in year 3, they visit the local swimming baths twice in the school year; once in the Autumn term daily for two weeks. They learn front crawl and backstroke.
