Guidance from The Department of Education (DfE)
The Department for Education (DfE) produces regular guidance for schools, too many to include every one on our own website. Occasionally we will update you with bits we think make the situation we all face clearer.
With this new strain of COVID, we all know that all of our lives have changed again and National restrictions are back in place. It spreads more rapidly, a third positive cases show no symptoms, about 1 in 70 across the UK, or 1 in 50 people in London are positive. These figures are much higher than in March 2020 when we had our first lockdown which is why schools are not open for most pupils. We have to help minimise numbers to stop the spread:
'… attendance is about supporting the reduction of the overall number of social contacts in our communities. We have resisted restrictions on attendance at schools since the first lockdown but, in the face of the rapidly rising numbers of cases across the country and intense pressure on the NHS, we now need to use every lever at our disposal to reduce all our social contacts wherever possible." DfE 7.1.21
Please continue to talk to us at school. We do have a few spaces in all year groups and if your situations change we will try and help in whatever way we can. There is no official limit on how many children schools should have in, except that 'the majority should be at home.' . Currently we are working on about 15 per year group.
We have loved seeing so many of you online this week. Well done families for making this happen.
Keep safe and warm.
