Free school meals are provided for Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 children.

School dinners are served daily in the hall. Payment for these meals is made on Monday morning for the whole week. Children of parents receiving Income Support will be entitled to free school meals and can obtain the appropriate form and information from the School Office.

Dinner money should be placed in an envelope clearly marked with the child’s name and class, the day and the amount of money enclosed and handed in at the front office. It costs £2.10 per day for 1 child’s school meal.

The school caters for the majority of the children by providing Halal meals. All of our burgers, kebabs and chicken meals are Halal. These meals are provided in accordance with Islamic Sharia guidelines under the auspices of the Birmingham Local Authority.

Children may bring sandwiches for dinner by prior arrangement with the Head teacher. Sandwiches must be brought to school in a box (which is clearly labeled) or suitable plastic container. In the light of the Governments’ healthy eating guidelines, and as a result of consulting parents, we have agreed that:

Children can only bring one snack/treat in their packed lunch

What is counted as one snack?

  • 1 Small piece/bar of chocolate OR
  • 1 Packet of crisps OR
  • 1 Small cake, biscuit, flapjack or cereal bar OR
  • Chocolate spread or jam in their sandwich

If children bring more than one snack or treat we will return it to you in their lunch box

Children need to bring at least 1 portion of fruit or vegetables each day

These will include things like:

  • Fresh fruit (apples, bananas, oranges, grapes etc)
  • Dried fruit (sultanas, dried apricots, raisins etc)
  • Vegetable sticks (carrot sticks, celery, cucumber etc)
  • Children can also bring in a yogurt (as well as fruit and a snack)

Children need to have something substantial included in their lunch box

This will include things like:

  • Sandwiches
  • Wraps with healthy filling
  • Pasta
  • Salad
  • Chapattis with healthy filling

Water OR 100% Fruit Juice
(not juice drink -juice drinks are not fruit juice and are full of sugar)

Children will bring home all their uneaten food so that you can see what they have eaten.
